2024 Mazda CX-5 Adds a Nice Touch & Earnhardt Jr. in an MX-5 Cup Car
Plus we hit the track with Mia LeRoux in Daytona
Greetings Fellow Mazda Fans,
This is Central Florida’s Newsletter for Mazda enthusiasts from your friends at Classic Mazda.
We missed you last month, so we are making up for it with this jam-packed edition:
2024 Mazda CX-5 Adds a Nice Touch
Hitting the Track in Daytona with Mia LeRouox
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Test Races an MX-5 Cup Car
Win an MX-5 Cup Car Valued at $100K
Range Testing The 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV
Let’s ride.
Team Knob vs. Team Touch It 🎛️ 🖥️
Mazda has rocked the unique "commander knob" setup for a while. The rotary-style knob is the sole interface for interacting with most Mazda infotainment systems. Located oh-so-conveniently near the gear shifter. A more natural reach for the driver. A subtle nod to Mazda’s distinct style.
We are big fans of the Iconic rotary-style knob here at Classic Mazda. However, the popular Android Auto and Apple CarPlay were designed for touchscreens.
And so, the time has come. To reach for the screen…
And touch it.
The New 2024 Mazda CX-5 is flaunting a swanky 10.25-inch touchscreen with seamless Android Auto and CarPlay support. But don’t be sad Knob heads, the rotary commander is still there for die-hards like you and I.
Easy access.
2024 Mazda CX-5 Interior
The 2024 Mazda CX-5 also adds a new Carbon Turbo Trim available featuring:
2.5-liter inline-four turbo @ 256 hp.
Zircon Sand Metallic exterior
Brown Terracotta leather upholstery with black suede accents and gunmetal trim accents.
Gonna miss shaking my head when my non-Mazda “friend” tries to reach up and touch the screen to change the music to no avail.
Kids and their technology. Am-I-right?
Team Knob vs. Team TouchscreenYou must choose. |
Hitting The Track in Daytona w/ Mia LeRoux 🏎️💨
We went to Daytona this month to hang out with our friend Mia LeRoux and we got to ride along on the track with her during Spec Miata testing. Mia is looking to start her rookie season in the MX-5 Cup Championship next season. Follow @mia.onthegrid and @ClassicMazdaOrlando on Insta to keep up with her journey.
MX-5 Cup Testing Martinsville w/ Dale Earnhardt Jr.
NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. took to the track in Martinsville, VA driving an MX-5 Cup car courtesy of our friends at Flis Performance in Daytona. Mazda Motorsports is considering adding Martinsville as a track for next season of the MX-5 Cup and they plan to have pro NASCAR drivers participate in the races there which will certainly draw a crowd.
This would be the first official NASCAR track for the MX-5 Cup Series that typically competes on Street and Road courses. An exciting step for the future of the series and a testament to the excitement the MX-5 Cup is bringing due to the rising level of competition.
MX-5 Cup Rounds 11 & 12
Connor Zilisch returned to the MX-5 Cup with a podium finish for our friends at Hixon Motorsports and BSI Racing in Race 1 at Virginia International Raceway.
It was a tough weekend for HMS in Rounds 11 & 12, but former Classic Mazda employee, Selin Rollan, is still sitting in 3rd place overall for the Championship, keeping them in the running.
The 2023 MX-5 Cup Championship will conclude at Michelin Raceway Road in Atlanta Braselton, GA Oct 11-13. Tune into Racer.com to stream live.
