This victory is also a massive historic milestone for the brand: it is officially Mazda's 100th IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK award since the testing program began in 2008.

Earning that elite "+" designation is harder than ever these days. To qualify for 2026, the CX-5 had to ace severe front and side impact tests, prove its headlights can actually illuminate a dark Florida backroad across every single trim level, and show off advanced crash-prevention systems that watch out for both other vehicles and pedestrians.

It is proof of nearly two decades of Mazda engineers obsessing over one massive goal: reaching zero fatalities in Mazda vehicles by 2040.

By the way, Mazda actually started the year leading all brands with eight TSP+ awards.

Mazda Brings Legendary 787B to ROLEX Motorsports Reunion

American fans rejoice! The iconic Le Mans-winning 1991 Mazda 787B in person as Mazda Motorsports headlines the 2026 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion from August 12 - 15th.

Anchoring the JDM Mazda Exhibit at Laguna Seca, the 787B will feature its unmistakable orange and green RENOWN livery, with the spine-rattling scream of its legendary Rotary engine! Fans can expect live engine fire-ups and demonstration laps across all four days of the events.

Alongside the 787B will also be:

• 1967 Cosmo Sport

• 1989 767B-002 AND 1990 787-002

• 1991 RX-7 GTO AND 1992 RX-792p

• 2019 RT24-P: Mazda’s most recent Race prototype

The celebration extends to the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 16.

Both the 787 and 787B have earned a rare invitation to display on the main lawn in the Japanese Motorsports class. Additionally, Ikuo Maeda (Mazda Executive Fellow of Design) and Brad Audet (CMO of Mazda North America) will serve as guest judges for the world-renowned event.

MX-5 Cup at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

If you aren’t watching the Mazda MX-5 Cup, you’re missing out on some of the most entertaining motorsport on the planet.

The best part about the MX-5 Cup? There are no secret million-dollar engines or crazy aerodynamics underneath the floor. This comes down to pure driver skill, racecraft, and a bit of luck!

Earlier this month, the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park delivered a perfect movie script

Race 1 was full of chaos and disqualifications! BSI Racing’s Bobby Gossett had his top qualifying laps erased forcing him to start way back in 8th. After some crashes from the race leaders, Bobby was able to reach P2 behind Rookie Ethan Lampe.

However, the rookie’s MX-5 did not pass the post-race inspection and so BSI Racing’s Bobby Gossett was officially awarded race 1!

Race 2 showed us that rookie Ethan Lampe was no fluke. Starting in 5th, he fought through a wild pack with plenty of bumping, but he pulled off a clutch pass on the backs straight to secure victory!

Now, it’s on to Rounds 9 and 10 which you can watch live from August 21st through 23rd on the IMSA YouTube channel.
